Registration Tabs

At Preston DMV, we can renew your registration tabs in person and by mail.

TABS

✔ Vehicle Registration (tabs) expire each year
✔ The renewal month can be found on your vehicle’s license plate
✔ DVS will also mail a renewal notice prior to the expiration date
✔ There is no registration grace period in Minnesota
✔ Registration is due the last day of the renewal month
✔ Add the new registration tab to the license plate

IN-PERSON and by MAIL

✔ Stop in person to renew your tabs – receive immediately
✔ Mail in or drop off your renewal
✔ Provide valid insurance company, policy number and expiration date
✔ Mail in and drop off renewals will be returned in 3-5 days
✔ Faster and more convenient
✔ Renew Autos, Motorcycle, Trailers, Boats, UTV, ATV, and Snowmobile
